The impact of traditional land use management on soil quality in Northeastern Himalayas (India)

چکیده
n the Northeast Himalayas (NEH) region, four major conventional land-use types are forest, Jhum lands, fallow lands and plantations, but little is known about their sustainability responses to changes. We collected soil samples at two uniform depths (0-15 15-30 cm) from Zunheboto district of Nagaland (India). The dataset was statistically analyzed by conducting an ANOVA-one way, principal component analysis (PCA) calculating additive quality index (SQIa). Our results confirmed that sand content, bulk density (BD), porosity, organic carbon (SOC), cation exchange capacity (CEC), exchangeable calcium potassium showed significant statistical differences among depending on land use management. PCA texture, BD, SOC cations could be consideredthe indicators define quality. After estimating SQIa, soils highest values surface, while cm depth, phase ones. conversion natural forest plantation does not hamper SQ, into may even increase it, for a shorter duration. However, after 1-2 year cultivation land, reduced.

Impact of land use change on soil erodibility
Vulnerability of soil separates to detachment by water is described as soil erodibility by Universal Soil Loss Equation which can be affected by land use change. In this study it was attempted to quantify the changes of Universal Soil Loss Equation K-factor and its soil driving factors in three land uses including rangeland, rainfed farming, and orchards in Babolrood watershed, northern Iran. S...

Impact of Different Land use Management on Soil Enzyme Activities and Bacterial Genetic Finger Prints of North-Western Himalayas
Land uses has significant impact on soil biological properties that incessantly intimates the soil quality change and are assessed by soil microbial and biochemical indicators, as they are highly sensitive to change in environment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of land use on soil enzyme activities and gene diversity in selected location of Northwestern Himalayas, Indi...

The study aimed to determine the impact of sound land use management to the runoff in Kabuntalan, Maguindanao in Tamontaka river basin. This was done through simulation and the comparison of the three land cover scenarios such as 2015 land cover, 2025 projected land cover and desired land use to determine its difference in terms of runoff.
